Intruder Alarm Installation System

The range and diversity of alarm systems available can make choosing the right system for your need quite complex. The information below is not a definitive guide, but it will help you to understand the basic differences between the main types of system on offer.

A basic system might be expected to comprise of an outside siren or bell and strobe light – enclosed in a weatherproof box – a key operated or digital control panel and a number of passive intra-red movement detectors, placed in vulnerable areas. Contacts on windows and doors may also be included.

Bells-Only Intruder Alarms system

This is generally the most basic option. If the alarm is triggered, an audible alarm sounds to alert you – or a neighbor – that an intruder has entered (or is trying to enter) the premises.

This type of system may be appropriate for most typical dwellings. However, it depends on the location of the property, the lifestyle or nature of the occupier or the content.

Speech Dialer or Auto (GSM) Dialer System

This will be a cheaper option than having a fully monitored system. With a speech dialer, when the alarm is activated, pre-programmed numbers of your choice will be dialed and a pre-recorded message alerts the keyholder or neighbor to the alarm.

If the phone line is cut or disabled, no signal can be sent. A GSM alarm unit sends you and/or other contacts a text message. It is not dependent on the phone line.

Under no circumstances should the Police telephone number be programmed into the auto dialer. It can typically send a text to up to three numbers, its a stand alone system where there is no third-party monitoring.

Intruder Alarm Monitored Systems

The system installed may be the same as (or similar to) a bells-only system, except that – when the alarm is activated – a signal informs our remote monitoring center.

They may confirm that the alarm is not false and, if necessary, we inform the Police or security patrol service provider for a call out. It is important to note that our monitoring center is recognized by the Police.

A unique reference number (URN) – which identified the premises – must be obtained by us from the Communication Authority of Kenya, when the system is installed. Our monitoring center is authorized and registered with CAK.

Why one need an Intruder Alarm system installed in their homes

If you’re aiming to improve security around your business premises, an intruder alarm system is essential. Installing an intruder alarm can provide the following 5 benefits:

1.    Protect your business from theft

There is and always has been a big threat of burglary for those who own business premises. This is because the value of stock and equipment found in the average workplace makes them a prime target for thieves.

·         The visible presence of commercial alarm systems deters trespassers. Therefore, you can stop theft before it happens by making it obvious your building is protected.

·         If a criminal does break into your premises, motion sensors will detect intruders. An alarm will sound and those in the vicinity will be alerted.

·         The more sophisticated business alarm systems can send a signal to a nominated person or initiate a police response. The thief’s window of opportunity is narrowed.

·         Deter vandals from entering your premises

Protecting your business from vandalism can be equally important to deterring thieves. Vandals may be intent on causing as much damage as possible to your building. Cracked windows and graffiti on walls is damaging enough but what happens if they manage to break in and enter your premises.

·         Provide peace of mind when you’re off-site

Because most intruders strike in the middle of the night, it is in the early hours when your premises are most at risk. Not all businesses can afford a physical security presence around the clock but intruder alarms can still provide protection.

An alarm system can be configured to alert you in the event of a break-in so you’ll know if there is an intruder. You’ll, therefore, be able to rest easy during the hours when the building is empty.

·         Reduce insurance premiums

Installing an intruder alarm will improve security at your workplace by reducing the risk of an incident. As a result, you can often lower your annual insurance premium. Savings may be increased further still with the introduction of intruder alarm monitoring.

This adds an extra layer of security to your building because it ensures 100% that somebody (other than the intruder) is aware of the break-in.

·         Increase the chance of police apprehending criminals

There may be people nearby who will hear a criminal breaking in and notify the police. However, it is just as likely that an intruder can gain entry into your building undetected. Apprehend intruder

By fitting intruder alarms, you can alert everybody in the vicinity to an invader. This will greatly increase the chance that the police will arrive in time to apprehend the offender. As mentioned above, intruder alarm monitoring can increase this chance greater still.
